Jesus' parting words to His disciples were not, "Go, worship," but "Make disciples." The commission of every believer is: "As you go, make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe everything I have taught you. And remember, no matter where you go, for as long as eternity, I am with you" (Matthew 28:19-20). From this verse it is plain that Christian education is crucial. The simple truth is that the church that fails to teach will fail in its mission and therefore will cease to be the church. We need to take seriously the mission of making disciples. We need to be passionate about seeing people grow in their faith. This is in part why we are starting a "Recommended Reading" list from our library on a monthly basis. The library is a wonderful tool that God can use for Christian education. Is not the main purpose of a library Christian education? To supply materials that support the mission of the church and aid people to grow deeper in the faith of Christ? To that end, I hope you will take advantage of these reading materials and grow much in the grace and knowledge of God.
